Meet the Counselors
Mrs. Angel Edwards, School Counselor
Welcome to High Pointe Elementary! I am so excited about starting my first year as HPE’s school counselor. Previously, I was a teacher here for 9 years and have worked with children in some capacity for over 30 years.
As your child's school counselor, I will teach social-emotional lessons in the classrooms by helping students understand, identify and effectively manage their emotions; assisting with teaching study skills; identify interests; and see students individually and in groups as needed. I am certified in Play Therapy, so some students could participate in individual and/or group play therapy. I am also here to support parents and staff too!
Please feel free to reach out if you need help with school-related situations or outside agencies. I love to help and solving problems! High Pointe is a wonderful place where we all support and encourage one another! I am blessed to be a part of the High Pointe family!
Mrs. Kacie Morton, Social Worker
Welcome to High Pointe Elementary! I'm proud to start my third year as High Pointe Elementary's school social worker. I graduated from Kansas State University and have worked in the field of social work for 13 years, all of which have been focused on supporting children and their families.
As a school social worker, I'm here to help bridge the gap between school, home, and the community to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed. I assist families in accessing resources for housing, food, mental health care, and other essential needs. I also support students through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual meetings that focusing on building important skills such as healthy coping strategies, recognizing and managing emotions, improving communication and resolving conflicts.
My goal is for every child to feel safe, supported, and valued at school--and for families to have the tools and resources they need to foster that same sense of security and support at home.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two kids. I feel incredibly blessed to be part of such a supportive and caring school family. Please don't hesitate to reach out if I can assist your family or support your child in any way!
